Long ago and far away in the state of Kentucky, B.J. Sharp climbed aboard an airplane bound for Los Angeles, California towing three young children and a bucket of chicken, vowing that she was one chicken the Colonel wouldn't fry. Armed with gospel roots, vocal training and an outlandish sense of humor, B.J. was going Hollywood . . . Born in Louisville, Kentucky, the daughter of a Southern Baptist Deacon, B.J. Sharp learned early the nature of performance by listening to Sunday soloists who sang at church. B.J. took her place in the choir waiting her turn to be the featured soloist and in no time, B.J. proved herself worthy of critical expectations from a congregation that expected her voice to be worthy of a Higher Power. It is here in the Church that B.J. Sharp discovered the strength in her voice, rooted in Gospel Song. Vocal training prepared B.J. for the obvious segue to Secular Song as B.J. matured as an Artist. B.J. began to sing her way through every available venue in Kentucky, gaining fans and friends everywhere she sang. Gifted with untapped vocal prowess, B.J. knew it was time to test the Big Time! So B.J. took her Song to Hollywood. B.J.'s vocal break came one night when she began to sing along with a band playing in Encino, CA. Moved by the spirit in B.J.'s resonant tone, the band invited B.J. to come out of the crowd to sing on-stage. The rest is Herstory, as they say, since B.J. has become a beloved fixture in Los Angeles' ever fickle and demanding scene.

Luminaries like Blues connoisseur, Mick Jagger, have dropped in on B.J. unannounced. B.J.'s performance so moved Mick that he invited her days later up to the Jagger Manse to play in an all-star jam for Mick's Academy Awards party!

While B.J. was on the road in San Francisco, John Lee Hooker dropped in to give his Mojo Hand of Healing Approval to B.J. two nights in a row! Rare approval from the Blues Healer.
